Hi! My name is Jasmine, and I'm a Public Relations and Psychology student at Iowa State University with a strong interest in strategic communication, storytelling, and audience engagement. Outside of work, I am fueled by my passion for continuous learning, travel, and meeting new people! I thrive in environments where I can collaborate and share with my peers as we work towards a similar goal. I am always open to new opportunities to try new things and make a positive impact in the process!

Catering Food Service Worker and Bartender

In this role, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the establishment of a new peer advising initiative, working with 3 peers to provide accessible, student-centered career support and complement full-time advising services. I also assist in the development and creation of new academic resources for students, producing clear, accessible guides that support professional communication and career development. Day-to-day, I advise students one-on-one during drop-in hours, providing tailored guidance on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, and networking to strengthen their professional branding. I also deliver clear, constructive feedback on application materials through in-person conversations and online reviews, ensuring consistency and professionalism.

In this role, I planned program activities designed to promote wellness and create a living environment best fit for personal growth. At the desk, I answered and routed calls, assisted students, and delivered messages to support facility communications. I worked hard to establish a positive rapport with residents through active listening and constructive feedback. Daily, I observed resident functioning and report changes in condition or behaviors to the supervisor.

I provided excellent customer service and support in a fast-paced retail environment, utilizing problem-solving skills to resolve customer complaints or questions efficiently. Additionally, I organized merchandise, learned effective time management, and developed helpful multi-tasking strategies to excel in my role. I assisted customers by locating items, finding prices, and helping them with product selection and purchasing decisions. I operated the cash register accurately and efficiently while processing payments.

In this role, I ensured the safety of campers and staff during waterfront activities. Maintained constant surveillance, enforced safety protocols, and responded effectively to emergencies. Built strong communication and teamwork skills while fostering a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment for youth.

During my time as a catering associate with ISU Dining, I provided professional food and beverage service for a wide range of on- and off-campus events. My responsibilities included banquet setup, food preparation, guest service, and clean-up, with occasional bartending duties for university functions. This role strengthened my ability to adapt quickly, communicate effectively with diverse groups, and maintain high standards of customer service in fast-paced, event-driven environments.

Symphonic Orchestra

Fall 2023

I’ve been playing violin for over 12 years and had the chance to continue at the collegiate level for a semester before studying abroad. Although my schedule didn’t allow me to continue afterward, the experience shaped my appreciation for teamwork, discipline, and performance under pressure—skills that I continue to carry with me in other areas of my life.
